Curriculum Integration
The use of Microsoft Edge can be integrated by students as a repository for curating web content (to facilitate life-long learning) and for use of its text-to-speech functionality.
Aligned UDL Principles and Guidelines
Microsoft EDGE offers ways of customizing the display of information with how it allows users to curate web content without having to download an add-on. It offers an alternative to visual information with its text-to-speech functionality, again without having to install an add-on. Both of these can facilitate the decoding of text. Being a search engine, it is able to activate or supply background knowledge, and with the functionalities mentioned, it guides information processing, visualization and manipulation. It optimizes the access to tools and assistive technologies. The 2 functionalities either use an alternative media for communication, can be used as a tool for construction and composition, and build fluencies with graduated levels of support for practice and performance. These 2 functionalities facilitate managing information and resources. They both optimize individual choice and autonomy, and optimize relevance, value and authenticity. It promotes expectations and beliefs that optimize motivation, facilitate personal coping skills and strategies, and the ability to curate content develops self-assessment and reflection.
