GOAL:
The PTA will be able to design a treatment plan for the management of patients in a Skilled Nursing Facility who have undergone a lower extremity total joint replacement.
OBJECTIVES:
The student will recognize and appreciate the tissue damage resulting from a lower extremity total joint replacement.
The student will be able to identify structural and functional impairments brought about by a lower extremity total joint replacement.
The student will be able to access available research / peer-reviewed literature to guide recognition of impairments and their remediation through physical therapist assistant intervention.
The student will demonstrate proficiency in delivering intervention (i.e. therapeutic exercises) to medically-complex patients who have undergone a lower extremity total joint replacement.
